Hobbies and Extracurriculars
I've been singing for as long as I can remember, and am so happy I am able to continue to sing at Cornell for the Chorus and in an a cappella group. The Chorus is a tight-knit community with over a century's worth of alumni. To be a part of this legacy and contribute as publicity manager (2022), concert manager (2023), and music director of the a cappella group After Eight, a subset of the Chorus (Spring 2024), is a pleasure. I am grateful to have many unique opportunities such as touring (Northeast Tour, January 2024), singing at important events such as Commencement and Convocation, and learning from talented musicians through an event called "Empowerment Through Music." More importantly, I am grateful that I have the chance to sing in such a welcoming environment.
I started swing dancing in college over a summer of research at the Scott Lab. Since then, it has become the best form of exercise for me and one of my biggest sources of joy. I have been able to find places to dance anywhere I go (including Madison, WI and Oakland, CA), and it has been exciting to meet so many people through this activity.
Church has always been a large part of my life as a pastor's kid, and Protestant Cooperative Ministry has been a place for me to continue what I practice as well as provide me with ways to give back to the community.
I really started crocheting during the COVID-19 pandemic, and have not stopped since. I enjoy crocheting anything as big as a blanket and as small as a little stuffed animal. I also enjoy teaching other people to crochet, and hosted a weekly crafting event in my residential hall for people to learn or just take time out of their busy lives to crochet and knit. I sell some of my work on Etsy (Riskids); feel free to check it out!
